Welcome!

I'm Lawrence Messerman, and I'm an initiated mara'akame or healer and ritual leader in the Wirárika (Huichol) tradition from the western Sierra Madre mountains and canyons of Mexico. To the left, you see me in my ceremonial clothing or traje. 

The Wirárika love vibrant colors–which are inspired by their shamanic visions, and are captured in trajes as well as the yarn painting you see in the background here.

I am part of Grupo Tatewarí or Grandfather Fire Medicine Group–just over a dozen people who have a spiritual calling in the Wirárika tradition even though we were born outside of the traditional homelands. You can read more  of my background on the 'About' page.
